Geotechnical services 

GEMS provides a range of geotechnical services worldwide to a variety of industries. 

Both small and large investigations have been performed for both major companies and governments. Clients include Oil and Gas majors such as Shell, Total, Chevron, together with Windfarm Operators and government organisations. 

GEMS owns and operates two dedicated geotechnical and site investigation vessels, the MV Investigator and the MV Albatros, equipped with drilling rigs, wireline cone penetrometer testing (CPT), sampling and soils laboratory equipment. In addition to these two vessels further vessels or jack up platforms can be mobilised and equipped with geotechnical drilling rigs and other specialist equipment to conduct geotechnical investigations and engineering analysis on site in order to deliver bespoke solutions to the customer. 

The Geotechnical Division can also call on the expertise and resources of the Geophysics and Metocean departments within the company to provide a ‘one stop’ solution for “integrated” projects.
