The GEMS Group owns and operates its own fleet of specialist vessels, chartering further ships when needed.

MV Albatros 1 was the Group's first geotechnical drilling and survey ship. The vessel has been refitted by GEMS as a geotechnical site investigation vessel it has a permanent drill rig, wireline CPT and an onboard laboratory. The 24 berth vessel is fully equipped with advanced technology, and is capable of operating in medium water depths.

MV Investigator is the company's newest acquisition. Purposely refitted to perform as a geotechnical drilling and survey ship, it is similar in remit to the MV Albatros 1 but with greater capability. Capable of drilling boreholes to a depth of 300m the MV Investigator is also equipped with a wireline CPT and an onboard soils testing laboratory.

The MV Kommandor Jack is GEMS’ new long term dynamic positioned integrated geophysical and geotechnical survey vessel. The vessel is equipped with brand new Kongsberg Simrad EM122 deepwater multibeam equipment as well as a full range of geophysical and shallow geotechnical sampling equipment.

The MV Kommandor Stuart is GEMS' newest addition to its integrated geophysical and geotechnical survey fleet. The vessel is equipped with hull-mounted multibeam and USBL equipment as well as a full range of geophysical and shallow geotechnical sampling equipment. The vessel has dynamic positioning which provides excellent station keeping for geotechnical seabed equipment and as an ROV support platform.

MV Askelad is GEMS' dedicated geophysical and oceanographic survey vessel. The vessel is based in West Africa region but capable of traversing deep oceans to work anywhere in the world. The vessel is equipped with a wide range of hull mounted survey equipment, multichannel seismic equipment and CPT/sampling equipment.

The MV Sylt is GEMS' newest acquisition for inland waterway surveys, port and harbour surveys, windfarm and nearshore investigations. The vessel is fitted with a range of geophysical and hydrographic survey equipment and has a crane on the working deck.

Built in 1988 the MV Oostende XI is the company’s coastal survey vessel. Equipped with hull mounted multibeam and specialist navitracker system together with a 5.3 tonne deck crane and onboard derrick, it is very versatile as a ‘day running’ vessel.

GEMS' youngest build ship is the MV GEMS Researcher, constructed in 2003. This vessel has been designed to operate as a multi-functional platform, providing support for geotechnical, geophysical and metocean operations.
