GEMS Survey are currently working on a contract awarded by Forewind Limited to undertake geophysical and shallow geology surveys within the South West of the Dagger Bank zone. Dagger Bank is in the North Sea, located 125 and 290 km off the east coast of Yorkshire. Water depths range from 18-63m. GEMS has been contracted to undertake 24,000 line km survey consisting of analogue and 2D high res digital.

Forewind has agreed with The Crown Estate a target installed capacity of 9 GW though the zone has a potential for approximately 13 GW, which equates to around 10 per cent of total UK electricity requirements. If developed it is likely to be the world's largest offshore wind project. Forewind is a consortium comprising four leading international energy companies: Statoil, Statkraft, SSE and RWE.

GEMS have completed to date 22,500 line km and are expected to complete the contract by end December.
